2019 BMW 6 Series – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2019 BMW 6 Series does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be performed by a certified automotive technician or authorized dealer using BMW-specific diagnostic tools.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Verify that the replacement smart key remote fob is fully compatible with the 2019 BMW 6 Series. Using an incorrect fob model or frequency may result in failed programming or limited functionality.
  • Step 2: Arrange an appointment with a certified technician or BMW dealership that has access to the required diagnostic equipment and approved programming software.
  • Step 3: Inquire whether all existing key fobs must be present during the session. Some BMW systems require all remotes to be programmed at the same time to avoid deactivating those not included.
  • Step 4: If your vehicle is drivable, consider bringing it to the service provider’s location. This may reduce costs associated with mobile programming services.
  • Step 5: At the service facility, the technician will connect specialized BMW diagnostic tools to the vehicle’s onboard port to access the keyless entry programming interface.
  • Step 6: The technician will perform a secure pairing procedure, registering the new smart key fob with the vehicle’s electronic systems to enable full remote functionality including locking, unlocking, trunk access, and engine start.
  • Step 7: Once programming is complete, each key fob will be tested to ensure it performs all intended functions correctly.
  • Step 8: Safely store all programmed remotes and verify their proper operation before completing the session.
