2019 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2019 BMW X6 does not support onboard programming for smart key remotes. Programming must be completed by a certified technician or authorized dealer using specialized diagnostic equipment.

  • Step 1: Confirm whether you're adding a new key fob or replacing a lost one. Most systems require that all remotes be reprogrammed during the same session.
  • Step 2: Schedule an appointment with a certified technician or authorized dealer who has access to the proper diagnostic tools compatible with BMW systems.
  • Step 3: Bring all existing key fobs with you. Any remotes not present during programming may be erased from the vehicle’s memory and will no longer function.
  • Step 4: If the vehicle is in working condition, driving it to the technician’s location may help reduce costs compared to requesting mobile service.
  • Step 5: If no functioning remotes are available, be ready to provide proof of ownership—such as a registration document or vehicle title—before programming begins.
  • Step 6: The technician will connect professional-grade diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s onboard system to access the smart key programming module.
  • Step 7: The new key fob will be securely registered and integrated with the vehicle, allowing full access to locking, unlocking, and ignition controls.
  • Step 8: After programming, the technician will test the remote to ensure successful operation of all basic and advanced features.
  • Step 9: Personally test the smart key functions, such as trunk release, panic alarm, proximity entry, and engine start, to verify everything works as intended.
  • Step 10: If additional remotes are being programmed, each one must be registered during the same session—typically within 30 seconds of the previous one—to ensure proper synchronization.
