2019 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Programming with Two Recognized Remotes: Use this procedure if you currently have two working remote fobs. This allows for the addition of a new fob using the vehicle’s built-in programming feature.

  • Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is turned off and all doors are securely closed.
  • Step 2: Place both working remote fobs inside the front cupholder.
  • Step 3: Go to the driver’s door and locate the external key lock cylinder.
  • Step 4: Remove the protective cap that covers the key lock.
  • Step 5: Take the emergency key from the new fob and insert it into the lock cylinder.
  • Step 6: Turn the key to the unlock position (counterclockwise) five times within 10 seconds.
  • Step 7: Look at the dashboard display—it should indicate “READY FOR REMOTE #3,” “#4,” or “#5.”
  • Step 8: Open the center console and remove both the top tray and the rubber mat to expose the transmitter pocket.
  • Step 9: Place the new remote into the designated slot inside the console.
  • Step 10: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button one time.
  • Step 11: Wait for the display to confirm the new remote has been recognized.
  • Step 12: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the LOCK or UNLOCK button to complete pairing.
  • Step 13: To add another remote, repeat Steps 9 through 12.
  • Step 14: Once all new remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 15: Reinsert the emergency key into the newly programmed remote.
  • Step 16: Reinstall the lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door.

Programming Without Any Recognized Remotes: If no remote fobs are currently paired to the vehicle, follow this process to program up to eight new fobs. This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes and requires full attention.

  • Step 1: Make sure the vehicle is turned off and all remotes to be programmed are with you.
  • Step 2: Locate and remove the cap covering the key cylinder on the outside of the driver’s door.
  • Step 3: Insert the emergency key from one of the new remotes into the key cylinder.
  • Step 4: Turn the key to the unlock position (counterclockwise) five times within 10 seconds.
  • Step 5: Wait for the instrument panel to display: “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
  • Step 6: Remain inside the vehicle and wait approximately 10 minutes.
  • Step 7: When prompted, press the ENGINE START/STOP button.
  • Step 8: The message “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT” will return.
  • Step 9: Repeat Steps 4 through 8 two more times, allowing 10 minutes for each cycle.
  • Step 10: After the third cycle, the display should read: “READY FOR REMOTE #1.”
  • Step 11: Open the center console, remove the top tray and rubber mat, and place the new remote into the transmitter pocket.
  • Step 12: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button one time.
  • Step 13: Wait for confirmation that the remote has been accepted.
  • Step 14: Remove the remote and press either LOCK or UNLOCK to finalize programming.
  • Step 15: Repeat Steps 11 through 14 to program additional remotes.
  • Step 16: Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to complete the session.
  • Step 17: Return the emergency keys to their respective remotes.
  • Step 18: Reinstall the protective cap on the driver’s side door lock.
