2019 Buick LaCrosse Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Programming with Two Recognized Remotes: Use this procedure if you have two working remotes. The vehicle must be off, and all current and new remotes must be with you.

  • Step 1: Place the two currently recognized remotes in the front cupholder.
  • Step 2: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the driver’s door handle.
  • Step 3: Insert the emergency key from the new remote into the driver’s door lock cylinder. Turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) should display “Ready For Remote #2, 3, 4 or 5.”
  • Step 4: Place the new remote into the transmitter pocket located inside the armrest storage area.
  • Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the new remote is learned, the DIC will prompt for the next transmitter.
  • Step 6: Remove the remote from the transmitter pocket and press the Unlock button to complete the process.
  • Step 7: Repeat Steps 3–6 to program any additional remotes.
  • Step 8: When finished, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 9: Reinsert the emergency key back into the remote.

Programming Without Recognized Remotes: Use this method if you have no functional remotes. This procedure is not supported in Canada and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must remain off and all new remotes must be present.

  • Step 1: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the driver’s door handle.
  • Step 2: Insert the emergency key from the remote into the door lock cylinder and turn to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display “Remote Learn Pending, Please Wait.”
  • Step 3: Wait approximately 10 minutes until the DIC displays “Press Engine Start Button to Learn.” Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The message “Remote Learn Pending, Please Wait” will reappear.
  • Step 4: Repeat Step 3 two more times. After the third cycle, all previously programmed remotes will be erased. The DIC will then display “Ready For Remote #1.”
  • Step 5: Place the new remote into the transmitter pocket inside the armrest storage compartment.
  • Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will confirm when the remote is accepted and ready for the next one.
  • Step 7: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the Unlock button.
  • Step 8: Repeat Steps 5–7 for each additional remote.
  • Step 9: After programming all remotes, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 10: Reinsert the emergency key back into the remote.
