Programming Guide for 2019 Cadillac XTS Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: This procedure allows you to program new keyless entry remote fobs to your 2019 Cadillac XTS. You may perform programming with either two recognized transmitters or with no recognized transmitter (United States only). Canadian models require dealership programming if no transmitters are recognized. Be sure to have all transmitters present before starting, as previously programmed transmitters not present may become deactivated.

Programming with Two Recognized Transmitters: Use this method if you have two working transmitters and want to add a new one.

  • Step 1: Remove the mechanical key from one of the recognized transmitters.
  • Step 2: Place both recognized transmitters in the front cupholder.
  • Step 3: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the driver’s door handle.
  • Step 4: Insert the mechanical key into the driver door lock cylinder and turn it to the unlock position five times within ten seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display: “READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, ETC.”
  • Step 5: Open the center console storage area and lift the tray to access the transmitter pocket.
  • Step 6: Insert the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing rearward.
  • Step 7: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The DIC will confirm that the new transmitter has been programmed.
  • Step 8: Remove the new transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press the LOCK or UNLOCK button to confirm successful pairing.
  • Step 9: To add more remotes, repeat Steps 6 through 8 for each new transmitter.
  • Step 10: After programming is complete, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 11: Reinsert the mechanical key into the transmitter.
  • Step 12: Reinstall the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door.

Programming Without Recognized Transmitters: Use this method if no recognized transmitters are available. U.S. models only.

  • Step 1: Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door handle.
  • Step 2: Insert the vehicle’s mechanical key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the unlock position five times within ten seconds. The DIC will display: “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
  • Step 3: Wait for approximately 10 minutes. When prompted, press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will again show “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
  • Step 4: Repeat Step 3 two more times (for a total of three cycles). After the third cycle, the DIC should display: “READY FOR REMOTE #1.” All previously learned transmitters will be erased.
  • Step 5: Open the center console and place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket with buttons facing the rear.
  • Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The DIC will confirm the new remote has been programmed.
  • Step 7: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the LOCK or UNLOCK button to confirm successful operation.
  • Step 8: Repeat Steps 5 through 7 to program additional transmitters.
  • Step 9: Once all transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 10: Reinsert the mechanical key into the transmitter.
  • Step 11: Replace the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door.
