<h1>2019 GMC Terrain — Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming (Smart Key)</h1> <p><font size="3">The 2019 GMC Terrain allows you to program new keyless entry remote fobs using either of the following procedures, depending on whether or not you have recognized transmitters. Please follow the instructions for your situation.</font></p> <p><font size="3"><b> If You Have Two Recognized Transmitters</b> </font></p> <p><font size="3">If two valid remotes are available, you can add an additional transmitter using the steps below: </font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Remove the cap covering the key lock cylinder on the driver’s door handle. Place both recognized transmitters inside the front cup holder. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 2: Insert the mechanical key from a transmitter into the driver door lock. Turn the key counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display: "READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, ETC." </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 3: Place the new, unprogrammed transmitter into the cup holder. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 4: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is successfully programmed, the DIC will indicate readiness for the next remote. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 5: Remove the newly programmed remote from the cup holder and press the LOCK or UNLOCK button. Repeat Steps 3–5 to program additional remotes. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 6: Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 7: Reinsert the mechanical key into each transmitter for safekeeping.</font></li> </ul> <p><font size="3"><b> If No Recognized Transmitters Are Available</b> </font></p> <p><font size="3">If no currently programmed transmitters are available, you may still program new remotes. This procedure takes about 30 minutes and must be completed without interruption. </font></p> <p><font size="3"><b>Note:</b> This method is not available for vehicles sold in Canada. </font></p> <ul> <li><font size="3">Step 1: Remove the cap from the key lock cylinder on the driver’s door. Insert the mechanical key into the lock and turn it counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display: "REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT." </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 2: Wait for approximately 10 minutes until the message "PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN" appears. Then press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The system will return to "REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT." </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 3: Repeat Step 2 two more times for a total of three cycles. After the third cycle, all previously recognized remotes will be erased. The DIC should now show: "READY FOR REMOTE #1." </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 4: Place a new transmitter into the front cup holder. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Once the remote is accepted, the system will be ready to program the next one. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 6: Remove the transmitter and press LOCK or UNLOCK to finalize pairing. Repeat Steps 4–6 for any additional transmitters. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 7: To exit programming mode, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds. </font></li> <li><font size="3">Step 8: Return the mechanical key to each transmitter when done.</font></li> </ul>
