2019 Honda Insight – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2019 Honda Insight does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be carried out using professional diagnostic tools by a trained automotive technician who can interface with the vehicle’s onboard security system.
Programming Procedure
- Step 1: Contact a qualified automotive technician or service center with experience in programming smart key systems. Confirm they have the appropriate equipment to perform remote fob registration for your specific vehicle model.
- Step 2: If your vehicle is drivable, it is often more economical to visit the service location directly. This can help avoid additional charges that may apply to mobile visits or on-site services.
- Step 3: Bring all remote fobs you intend to use with your vehicle. During programming, the system may erase all previously recognized remotes. Each remote must be reprogrammed during the same session to remain functional.
- Step 4: At the service location, the technician will access the vehicle’s OBD-II diagnostic port—usually found under the dashboard—and connect a compatible scan tool to access the keyless entry system.
- Step 5: The technician will initiate the smart key registration process using the diagnostic interface. Each remote fob will be securely paired with the vehicle’s control module to enable features such as locking, unlocking, and push-button start (if equipped).
