Programming Guide for 2020 Audi S4 Keyless Entry Smart Key Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 2020 Audi S4 does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be completed using manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment by a qualified professional.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Contact a certified automotive technician or authorized Audi service provider who is equipped to program smart key systems.
- Step 2: If your vehicle is operational, driving it to the service location may reduce costs compared to requesting mobile service.
- Step 3: Ensure the technician has specific experience with Audi’s smart key systems and immobilizer configurations to ensure proper key registration and security.
- Step 4: Bring all remote fobs you wish to program. If only one is programmed, any unregistered remotes may become inactive, so it’s recommended to program all at once.
- Step 5: The technician will connect specialized diagnostic tools to your vehicle’s OBD-II port to access the security control module.
- Step 6: Through the diagnostic system, the technician will initiate the key programming process. The new smart key fob will be electronically paired with the vehicle’s onboard security system.
- Step 7: Once programmed, the technician will test the smart key functions—including locking, unlocking, remote start, and trunk access—to confirm successful registration.
- Step 8: Any errors or miscommunication with the system will be diagnosed and corrected during this session to ensure full functionality.
- Step 9: After confirmation, the technician will finalize the programming process and provide guidance on spare key storage and usage.
Additional Considerations:
- Proof of Ownership: Be prepared to show vehicle registration or title if all remotes are lost or if requested by the service provider.
- Key Limit: The vehicle system may only support a limited number of remotes—typically up to four.
- Remote Compatibility: Use only remotes specifically designed for the 2020 Audi S4 to avoid incompatibility issues.
- Reprogram All Remotes: When programming new keys, all existing remotes should be present, as previous keys may be erased from the system during the process.
