Important Notice: The 2020 BMW 3 Series does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming requires the use of BMW-specific diagnostic equipment and must be performed by a certified automotive technician or authorized dealer.

• Step 1: Verify that the replacement smart key fob is specifically compatible with the 2020 BMW 3 Series. Using an incorrect or incompatible fob may prevent proper pairing with the vehicle’s system.

• Step 3: Ask whether any existing key fobs need to be reprogrammed during the session. In many cases, remotes not included in the session may be erased from memory.
