Programming Guide for 2020 Cadillac CT5 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2020 Cadillac CT5 supports onboard programming only when two recognized remote keys are available. If no recognized remotes are present, programming must be completed using authorized diagnostic equipment by a qualified technician.

Programming Procedure (With Two Recognized Remote Keys): This method allows you to add a new remote key when two valid remotes are already paired with the vehicle.

  • Step 1: Gather All Remotes Have both currently recognized remotes and the new remote key with you.
  • Step 2: Turn the Vehicle to RUN Enter the vehicle and press the ENGINE START/STOP button without pressing the brake to enter RUN mode.
  • Step 3: Position the Recognized Keys Place both recognized remote keys on the front passenger seat.
  • Step 4: Access the Programming Menu Use the Driver Information Center (DIC) menu to navigate to ""Remote Key Relearn"" and select it. The screen will display ""READY FOR REMOTE #3"", or the next available slot up to #8.
  • Step 5: Insert New Remote Key Place the new remote key into the rear cupholder, button side facing forward.
  • Step 6: Register the Remote Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The system will confirm programming once the key is learned.
  • Step 7: Remove and Test Remote Take the remote out of the cupholder and press LOCK or UNLOCK to verify functionality.
  • Step 8: Repeat for Additional Remotes To program more remotes, repeat Steps 5–7 for each additional key (up to 8 total).
  • Step 9: Exit Programming Mode Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to end programming.

Programming Procedure (Without Recognized Remote Keys): If no valid remotes are currently recognized, onboard programming is not supported. Remote key registration must be performed using specialized equipment through the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic port.

  • Step 1: Confirm All Remotes Are Present Bring all remote keys you wish to use with the vehicle. Any not present will be removed from the system.
  • Step 2: Ensure Vehicle Power Is Off All doors must be closed and the vehicle must be powered down before the process begins.
  • Step 3: Technician Connects Diagnostic Tool A certified technician will access the vehicle's Body Control Module (BCM) using an OEM-grade scan tool.
  • Step 4: Enter Key Learn Mode Using the scan tool, the technician will initiate Remote Key Relearn Mode.
  • Step 5: Insert Remote into Learning Position The new remote key must be placed in the rear cupholder or specified transmitter pocket.
  • Step 6: Confirm Registration The system will confirm once the key has been learned. The DIC will display “READY FOR REMOTE #2”, continuing up to remote #8.
  • Step 7: Add More Remotes Repeat the process for any additional remote keys you wish to register.
  • Step 8: Finalize Programming Once complete, the technician will exit learn mode and test all remotes for functionality.

Additional Considerations: Always test each remote key after programming. Label remotes to avoid confusion if more than one user operates the vehicle. Store unused or backup remotes in a secure, dry location.
