2020 Honda Insight – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2020 Honda Insight does not offer onboard programming capabilities for its smart key remote fob. Programming requires the use of advanced diagnostic tools operated by an experienced automotive technician who can access and configure the vehicle’s electronic control system.

Programming Procedure

• Step 1: Schedule service with a qualified automotive technician or facility that specializes in smart key programming. Ensure the technician uses diagnostic tools compatible with your vehicle’s security system.
• Step 2: If your vehicle is operable, consider driving it to the technician’s service center. This may help reduce costs, as mobile programming services can include additional charges for travel and labor.
• Step 3: Gather all smart key fobs you intend to use with the vehicle. When a new remote is programmed, the system may erase all previously registered fobs. To retain full access, all remotes must be reprogrammed during the same session.
• Step 4: At the service location, the technician will connect a diagnostic scanner to the vehicle’s onboard diagnostics port (OBD-II), typically located beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side.
• Step 5: Using this equipment, the technician will initiate the remote registration process. Each fob will be electronically paired with the vehicle, enabling functions such as locking, unlocking, and engine start (if push-button start is equipped).
