2021 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Programming with Two Recognized Remotes: This method allows you to program a new remote if two remotes are already paired with the vehicle.
- Step 1: Make sure the vehicle is turned off and parked in a safe location.
- Step 2: Place both working remotes inside the front cupholder.
- Step 3: Locate the exterior key lock cylinder on the driver’s door handle.
- Step 4: Remove the cap covering the key lock to expose the cylinder.
- Step 5: Remove the emergency key from the new remote.
- Step 6: Insert the emergency key into the key cylinder on the door.
- Step 7: Turn the key to the unlock position (counterclockwise) five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 8: Look at the dashboard display to confirm it shows “READY FOR REMOTE #3,” “#4,” or “#5.”
- Step 9: Open the center console, remove the top tray and rubber mat to access the remote pocket.
- Step 10: Place the new remote fob into the transmitter pocket inside the console.
- Step 11: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button one time.
- Step 12: Wait for the vehicle to confirm that the new remote has been successfully learned.
- Step 13: Remove the remote from the pocket and press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button.
- Step 14: To program more remotes, repeat Steps 10 through 13 for each one.
- Step 15: After all remotes have been programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 16: Insert the emergency key back into the remote.
- Step 17: Replace the cap over the driver’s door key cylinder.
Programming Without Any Recognized Remotes: Use this method if no remote fobs are currently recognized by the vehicle. The full process takes about 30 minutes and supports programming up to eight remotes.
- Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is off and all doors are closed. Have all remotes with you before beginning.
- Step 2: Locate the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver’s door.
- Step 3: Remove the cylinder cap to access the lock.
- Step 4: Take the emergency key from one of the remotes and insert it into the key cylinder.
- Step 5: Turn the key to the unlock position (counterclockwise) five times within 10 seconds.
- Step 6: The display will show: “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
- Step 7: Wait approximately 10 minutes without interacting with the vehicle.
- Step 8: When prompted, press the ENGINE START/STOP button one time.
- Step 9: The message will return to: “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
- Step 10: Repeat Steps 5 through 9 two more times, for a total of three 10-minute cycles.
- Step 11: After the third cycle, the display should show: “READY FOR REMOTE #1.”
- Step 12: Open the center console and remove both the tray and the rubber mat.
- Step 13: Place the first new remote into the transmitter pocket inside the console.
- Step 14: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button one time.
- Step 15: Wait for the system to confirm that the remote has been successfully paired.
- Step 16: Remove the remote and press either LOCK or UNLOCK to verify pairing.
- Step 17: Repeat Steps 13 through 16 for each additional remote you wish to program.
- Step 18: When all remotes have been programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 19: Reinsert the emergency key into each remote.
- Step 20: Replace the cap on the driver’s door lock cylinder.
