Smart Key Remote Programming Guide – 2021 Genesis GV80
Important Information: The 2021 Genesis GV80 does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. A certified technician must perform the programming using specialized diagnostic tools.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Contact a certified automotive technician or authorized service provider who is experienced with smart key systems and equipped with the proper diagnostic tools.
- Step 2: Verify that the technician uses manufacturer-approved software capable of securely interfacing with your vehicle’s electronic control module.
- Step 3: If the vehicle is operational, driving to the service provider’s location may help lower costs compared to requesting mobile service.
- Step 4: Schedule your appointment in advance to ensure availability and allow the technician to prepare the necessary tools for your vehicle.
- Step 5: Bring all current smart keys with you. Some systems require all remotes to be programmed during the same session for proper synchronization.
- Step 6: At the service location, the technician will connect a diagnostic interface to your vehicle’s onboard diagnostic port, typically located beneath the dashboard.
- Step 7: Using diagnostic software, the technician will initiate the programming procedure and register the new smart key to your vehicle’s system.
- Step 8: Once programming is complete, the technician will verify that all remote features—such as keyless entry, engine start, and trunk release—function properly.
- Step 9: Test each remote yourself before concluding the service to ensure everything operates correctly.
- Step 10: Store spare keys in a secure location and consider programming a backup remote for emergency use or added convenience.
