2021 Honda Insight – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2021 Honda Insight does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. All programming must be carried out using professional-grade diagnostic tools by a qualified automotive technician who can interface with the vehicle’s electronic security systems.

Programming Procedure

• Step 1: Schedule an appointment with a professional technician or service center equipped with the appropriate diagnostic systems to handle smart key registration for your vehicle.
• Step 2: If your vehicle is in working condition, driving it to the service location is recommended. This can reduce potential costs that may arise from mobile service or travel-related fees.
• Step 3: Bring every smart key remote you plan to use with the vehicle. During programming, the system may erase all previously registered remotes. To maintain access, all desired remotes must be reprogrammed during the same session.
• Step 4: The technician will access the vehicle’s onboard systems by connecting a scan tool to the diagnostic port (OBD-II), typically located beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side.
• Step 5: Once connected, the technician will initiate the smart key registration sequence. Each remote fob is electronically paired to the vehicle, enabling entry and ignition features including push-button start (if equipped).
