Programming Guide for 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Smart Key)

Important Notice: This vehicle does not support onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs. Programming requires specialized diagnostic equipment and must be performed by a qualified technician. Programming Procedure

  • Step 1: Locate a Qualified Professional Find a certified automotive technician or service provider who is equipped to program smart key remote fobs for your vehicle.
  • Step 2: Consider Cost-Effective Options If your vehicle is still drivable, consider driving it to the technician’s location to save on service fees, as traveling to a service center is often more affordable than mobile services.
  • Step 3: Prepare All Key Fobs Ensure you have all existing and new key fobs ready for programming. Some vehicles may require all fobs to be present during the programming session.
  • Step 4: Provide Proof of Ownership The technician will likely require proof of ownership, such as your vehicle registration or title, before proceeding with the programming.
  • Step 5: Connect to the Vehicle’s System The technician will connect specialized diagnostic equipment to your vehicle’s system. This allows the technician to access the vehicle’s security system and initiate the programming process for the smart key remote fob.
  • Step 6: Programming the Smart Key Remote Fob Using the diagnostic tools, the technician will program the new remote fob, ensuring it is securely paired with your vehicle's system and functions correctly.
  • Step 7: Test the Programmed Fob Once the programming is complete, the technician will test the remote fob to ensure it works with your vehicle, including verifying remote entry and keyless start functionality.
  • Step 8: Program Additional Fobs (If Needed) If you have additional key fobs to program, the technician will repeat the programming process for each one. It’s essential to program all new fobs in the same session to ensure they synchronize with your vehicle’s system.
  • Step 9: Exit Programming Mode After the fobs are programmed and tested, the technician will exit programming mode and restore the vehicle to its normal operational state.
  • Step 10: Retrieve Your Vehicle and Key Fobs Once the programming is complete, retrieve your vehicle and newly programmed key fobs. Test all fobs to ensure they function properly before leaving the service provider.
