2021 Subaru Legacy Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2021 Subaru Legacy does not feature onboard programming for its smart key remote fob. A certified technician must complete the programming using specialized diagnostic equipment.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Contact a qualified automotive technician or authorized service provider who has experience with smart key systems and access to professional diagnostic tools.
- Step 2: If your vehicle is operational, consider driving it to the technician’s location to help reduce potential mobile service fees.
- Step 3: The technician will connect diagnostic equipment to your vehicle’s onboard system to register the new smart key fob.
- Step 4: Once programming is complete, the technician will verify that all smart key functions—such as keyless locking, unlocking, and push-button start—are fully operational.
Additional Notes
- If no functional remotes are available, proof of ownership (such as a registration or title) may be required. Some Subaru systems require that all remotes be present during programming to ensure none are deactivated. It is recommended to use a technician experienced with Subaru smart key systems to ensure proper compatibility and avoid setup issues.
