Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Guide – 2021 Toyota Tundra
Important Notice: The 2021 Toyota Tundra does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be performed using specialized diagnostic tools by a certified automotive technician or an authorized service provider.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Contact a qualified technician or authorized service center that has the appropriate tools to program your smart key remote fob.
- Step 2: If your Tundra is equipped with a push-button start ignition, confirm with the technician that they are experienced with proximity-based smart key systems and possess the required diagnostic equipment.
- Step 3: If the vehicle is drivable, it may be more cost-effective to take it directly to the service location rather than requesting mobile assistance.
- Step 4: The technician will connect professional diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s onboard system to carry out secure programming of the smart key remote.
- Step 5: After programming, test all key functions—including locking, unlocking, and engine start—to ensure full functionality.
Note:
- This procedure applies only to the remote fob. If the ignition transponder chip also requires programming, a separate process involving additional tools must be performed by a trained professional.
