2022 BMW 3 Series – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2022 BMW 3 Series does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. All programming must be completed using BMW diagnostic equipment by a certified automotive technician or authorized dealer.

Programming Procedure:

• Step 1: Verify that the replacement smart key remote fob is fully compatible with the 2022 BMW 3 Series. An incompatible fob may not function correctly or pair with the vehicle.
• Step 2: Schedule service with a certified technician or authorized BMW dealer equipped with the appropriate diagnostic tools required to perform smart key programming.
• Step 3: Confirm whether all existing remotes must be reprogrammed at the same time. Some BMW systems will deactivate any fobs not included during the session.
• Step 4: If your vehicle is operational, consider driving it to the service provider’s location. This may help reduce additional fees often associated with mobile service.
• Step 5: At the service facility, the technician will connect BMW diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s onboard port to access the key programming system.
