Programming Guide for 2022 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Escalade

Important Notice: The 2022 Escalade supports onboard programming of remote fobs when two recognized remote keys are present. A total of up to eight remote keys can be programmed. If no working remotes are available, programming must be completed by a qualified technician using diagnostic equipment.

Method A: Programming with Two Recognized Remote Keys Use this method if two functioning remote keys are available.

  • Step 1: Position Recognized Keys Place both recognized remote keys on the passenger seat inside the vehicle.
  • Step 2: Access Remote Key Relearn Mode Navigate through the Driver Information Center (DIC) menu and select the option: Remote Key Relearn The DIC will display: READY FOR REMOTE #3, 4, 5, etc.
  • Step 3: Insert New Remote Key Place the new remote key into the front cupholder.
  • Step 4: Start the Programming Process Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the remote is successfully programmed, the DIC will indicate readiness for the next remote.
  • Step 5: Confirm and Continue Remove the newly programmed key from the cupholder and press either LOCK or UNLOCK. Repeat Steps 3–5 for each additional remote key you wish to program.
  • Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode once all remotes are added.

Method B: Programming Without Recognized Remote Keys Use this method when no recognized remote keys are available.

  • Step 1: Confirm Professional Programming is Required Without two working remote keys, onboard programming is not supported. A qualified technician must complete the process using diagnostic tools.
  • Step 2: Prepare for the Appointment Gather all remote keys you wish to program, along with your vehicle’s identification details and proof of ownership.
  • Step 3: Technician Programming Procedure A technician will connect specialized equipment to the vehicle’s onboard system and initiate the secure key programming process.
  • Step 4: Test All Remotes After programming, verify each remote functions correctly by testing LOCK, UNLOCK, and START features.

Additional Considerations:

All Remotes Must Be Present: Remotes not programmed during the session will be removed from memory.

Battery Check: Ensure every remote has a fully charged battery before beginning.

System Limit: A maximum of eight remote keys can be stored by the system.

Estimated Time: Onboard programming (with two recognized remotes) takes just a few minutes. Without recognized remotes, technician service may take longer.
