Programming Guide for 2022 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle allows for onboard programming of remote fobs. You can add a new remote using two recognized remotes or follow a timed procedure if no remotes are available. Each vehicle can accommodate up to eight remotes. Please follow the appropriate method below based on your situation.
Programming with Two Recognized Remote Fobs: This method is used when two recognized fobs are available.
- Step 1: Ensure that the vehicle is completely off and all doors are securely closed.
- Step 2: Place both recognized remotes into the front cupholder.
- Step 3: Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door handle to expose the lock cylinder.
- Step 4: Insert the mechanical key from one of the fobs into the lock cylinder and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The display will show READY FOR REMOTE #2 or a similar message.
- Step 5: Open the center console storage compartment between the front seats. Lift the storage tray to access the transmitter pocket. Place the new remote inside the transmitter pocket.
- Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The system will register the new remote and indicate that it is ready for the next.
- Step 7: Remove the new remote from the pocket and press either the Lock or Unlock button to confirm that it works correctly.
- Step 8: Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for each additional remote you wish to program.
- Step 9: Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 10: Return the mechanical key to the remote fob.
- Step 11: Reinstall the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door handle.
Programming Without Recognized Remote Fobs: If no working remotes are available, follow these steps to program new remotes. This process will take approximately 30 minutes.
- Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is completely off and all doors are closed.
- Step 2: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the driver’s door handle to expose the lock cylinder.
- Step 3: Insert the mechanical key into the lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The display will read REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
- Step 4: Wait approximately 10 minutes until the display prompts you with PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button.
- Step 5: The display will revert to REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT. Repeat Step 4 two more times for a total of three 10-minute cycles. After the third cycle, all previously stored remotes will be erased, and the display will read READY FOR REMOTE #1.
- Step 6: Open the center console, lift the storage tray, and place the first new remote into the transmitter pocket.
- Step 7: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The vehicle will register the new remote and indicate readiness for the next.
- Step 8: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the Lock or Unlock button to confirm proper functionality.
- Step 9: Repeat Steps 6 through 8 to program additional remotes.
- Step 10: Once all remotes have been programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 11: Reinsert the mechanical key into the remote fob. Step 12: Reinstall the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door handle.
Additional Considerations:
- Maximum Remotes: Up to eight remote fobs can be programmed to the vehicle.
- Timing Matters: Ensure all key turns, button presses, and other steps are completed within the allotted time to prevent resetting the process.
- Proof of Ownership: If no remotes are available and assistance is needed, proof of vehicle ownership (e.g., title, registration) may be required before programming.
