Smart Key Remote Programming Guide – 2022 Polestar 2

Important Information: The 2022 Polestar 2 does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be completed by a qualified technician using specialized diagnostic tools.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Contact a certified automotive technician or authorized service provider with experience in programming smart key systems and access to manufacturer-approved diagnostic equipment.
  • Step 2: Confirm that the technician uses compatible software capable of securely connecting to your vehicle’s electronic control unit.
  • Step 3: If the vehicle is drivable, consider bringing it to the service location. This may help avoid additional costs associated with mobile service.
  • Step 4: Schedule an appointment in advance to ensure technician availability and confirm that the required equipment is ready for your specific vehicle.
  • Step 5: Bring all existing smart keys to the appointment. Some systems require that all remotes be present during the programming process to retain full functionality.
  • Step 6: Once at the service location, the technician will connect a diagnostic interface to the vehicle’s onboard port, typically found beneath the dashboard.
  • Step 7: The technician will initiate the programming procedure using specialized software to pair the new smart key with your vehicle’s system.
  • Step 8: After programming is complete, all key functions—including lock/unlock, push-button start, and remote access—will be tested to confirm successful operation.
  • Step 9: Personally test each remote to ensure everything is functioning correctly before concluding the service.
  • Step 10: Store spare remotes in a secure location and consider programming an additional key for future use or emergencies.
