2022 Subaru Legacy

2022 Subaru Legacy Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2022 Subaru Legacy does not support onboard programming for its smart key remote fob. Programming requires specialized diagnostic equipment and must be completed by a trained automotive technician.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Contact a certified technician or automotive service provider who has the proper tools and experience to program smart key systems.
  • Step 2: If the vehicle is drivable, consider transporting it directly to the service location, which may reduce overall service costs compared to a mobile visit.
  • Step 3: The technician will connect professional diagnostic tools to the vehicle's onboard computer to access and program the smart key system.
  • Step 4: After programming is complete, all remote functions—including keyless entry, locking/unlocking, and push-button start—will be tested to ensure proper operation.

Additional Notes:

  • If no working remotes are available, proof of vehicle ownership (such as a title or registration) may be required. Some systems require all existing remotes to be present during programming to retain their functionality. Always confirm the technician is experienced with Subaru smart key systems to prevent programming errors or compatibility issues.
