2023 Buick Envision

2023 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Envision

Important Notice: The 2023 Envision does not support onboard programming. Smart key fobs for this model must be programmed using professional diagnostic equipment by a trained automotive technician. Manual programming by the vehicle owner is not possible.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Confirm that the vehicle requires external programming. This model cannot be programmed through onboard steps such as key cycling or button sequences.
  • Step 2: Gather all remote fobs you intend to use. Depending on the system, existing remotes may be erased during the programming session, so all fobs should be present.
  • Step 3: Prepare ownership documentation. You may be asked to present a valid photo ID along with the vehicle’s title or registration before the programming process can begin.
  • Step 4: Schedule service with a qualified automotive professional who has access to secure remote programming tools. This may include service technicians or independent specialists with advanced diagnostic capabilities.
  • Step 5: If the vehicle is operational, consider driving it to the technician’s location. In many cases, this is more affordable than requesting on-site or mobile service.
  • Step 6: The technician will connect a diagnostic tool to the vehicle's onboard computer system, typically through the OBD-II port beneath the dashboard.
  • Step 7: Specialized software will be used to securely program the new smart key remote to your vehicle. The technician will initiate pairing through the vehicle’s security interface.
  • Step 8: Once the remote is recognized, the system will confirm successful programming. Any previously paired remotes not present may be deactivated during this process.
  • Step 9: The technician will verify that all programmed remotes function correctly by testing features such as lock, unlock, panic, and remote start (if equipped).
  • Step 10: Store all newly programmed remotes in a safe location and ensure they are clearly labeled for future reference.

Additional Tips:

Having a spare remote programmed during the same session is often more cost-effective than returning later for an additional key. Always confirm that your technician has experience with modern smart key systems to avoid compatibility issues. If no remotes are available at all, additional verification steps may be required before programming can proceed.
