Programming Guide for 2023 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle allows onboard programming of smart key remote fobs. You can add a new remote using two recognized fobs or follow a timed process if no remotes are available. The system can register up to eight remotes. Follow the steps below depending on your situation.
Programming with Two Recognized Remote Fobs: If you have two working remote fobs, follow these steps to add additional remotes:
- Step 1: Ensure that the vehicle is completely off, and all doors are securely closed.
- Step 2: Place both recognized remote fobs inside the front cupholder.
- Step 3: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the driver’s door handle to expose the lock cylinder.
- Step 4: Insert the mechanical key from one of the remotes into the lock cylinder and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. This activates programming mode, and the display will read READY FOR REMOTE #2 or similar.
- Step 5: Open the center console storage area between the front seats. Lift the storage tray to reveal the remote key pocket, and place the new remote into the pocket.
- Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The system will learn the new remote and indicate readiness to program the next remote.
- Step 7: Remove the newly programmed remote from the pocket and press either the Lock or Unlock button to confirm that it functions correctly.
- Step 8: Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for each additional remote fob you wish to program.
- Step 9: After all remotes have been programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 10: Return the mechanical key to its original position inside the remote fob.
- Step 11: Reinstall the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door handle.
Programming Without Recognized Remote Fobs: If no working remotes are available, follow this 30-minute procedure to add new remotes. This feature is not available in all regions.
- Step 1: Ensure that the vehicle is off, and all doors are securely closed.
- Step 2: Remove the key cylinder cap from the driver’s door handle to expose the lock.
- Step 3: Insert the mechanical key into the lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The display will show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
- Step 4: Wait approximately 10 minutes until the display reads PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button.
- Step 5: The display will return to REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT. Repeat Step 4 two more times, for a total of three 10-minute cycles. After the third cycle, all previously stored remotes will be erased, and the display will show READY FOR REMOTE #1.
- Step 6: Open the center console, lift the storage tray, and place the new remote into the transmitter pocket.
- Step 7: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The system will detect and learn the new remote.
- Step 8: Remove the remote from the pocket and press either the Lock or Unlock button to confirm successful programming.
- Step 9: Repeat Steps 6 through 8 for any additional remotes you wish to program.
- Step 10: Once all remotes have been programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
- Step 11: Return the mechanical key to its original position inside the remote fob.
- Step 12: Reinstall the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door handle.
Additional Considerations:
- Maximum Supported Remotes: Up to eight remotes can be programmed for the vehicle.
- Timing is Critical: Ensure all steps, especially involving key turns or button presses, are completed within the required time to avoid resetting the process
- . Proof of Ownership: If all remotes are lost and external assistance is needed, proof of vehicle ownership may be required before programming can proceed.
