2023 Mitsubishi Outlander – Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander does not support manual (onboard) programming for smart key remote fobs. All key fob programming must be performed using specialized diagnostic tools by a trained automotive technician.
Smart Key Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Contact a certified technician or service provider with access to factory-compatible programming equipment capable of handling smart key systems.
- Step 2: If your vehicle is currently drivable, you may reduce overall service costs by driving it to the technician’s location instead of requesting mobile assistance.
- Step 3: The technician will connect a diagnostic scanner or computer-based programming tool to the vehicle's onboard data port, typically located beneath the dashboard.
- Step 4: The system will be accessed to initiate the programming session. The new smart key will be electronically paired with the vehicle’s control module.
- Step 5: Once programming is complete, the technician will verify that the key fob properly locks and unlocks the doors, enables push-to-start functionality, and responds to proximity-based commands.
- Step 6: If additional smart keys are being added, ensure that all remotes are available during programming. Some systems will erase keys not present during the session.
- Step 7: After the service is complete, confirm that all programmed remotes operate as expected and store any spare fobs in a secure place.
