Smart Key Remote Programming Instructions – 2023 Polestar 2
Important Notice: The 2023 Polestar 2 does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be performed by a qualified technician using specialized diagnostic equipment.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Contact a certified automotive technician or authorized service provider who has experience with smart key systems and access to manufacturer-approved diagnostic tools.
- Step 2: Confirm that the technician uses diagnostic software compatible with the Polestar 2's onboard electronic control systems to ensure secure and accurate key programming.
- Step 3: If your vehicle is operational, consider visiting the technician’s service location instead of requesting mobile assistance, as this may help reduce additional costs.
- Step 4: Schedule your appointment in advance to confirm availability and ensure the technician has the necessary tools prepared for your specific vehicle.
- Step 5: Bring all existing smart keys with you. Some systems require that all remotes be reprogrammed during the same session to ensure full functionality.
- Step 6: Once on-site, the technician will connect a diagnostic tool to your vehicle’s onboard port, typically located beneath the dashboard.
- Step 7: The technician will initiate the programming procedure using secure diagnostic software to register the new smart key with the vehicle’s system.
- Step 8: Upon completion, all smart key functions—such as keyless entry, remote locking and unlocking, trunk release, and push-button start—will be tested for proper operation.
- Step 9: Personally test each smart key before finalizing the service to ensure that all programmed remotes are working as expected.
- Step 10: Store your spare remotes in a secure location, and consider programming an additional backup key for emergency situations.
