2023 Subaru Solterra Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2023 Subaru Solterra does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. A certified technician must perform the procedure using advanced diagnostic tools.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Confirm your vehicle is equipped with a smart key system, including push-button ignition and keyless entry. These systems require specialized tools to program new fobs.
- Step 2: Have all current smart key fobs available. Some vehicles may erase all existing remotes during the process and require them to be reprogrammed together.
- Step 3: Arrange an appointment with a qualified technician or service provider who has access to the appropriate Subaru-compatible programming equipment.
- Step 4: If the vehicle is operable, consider driving it to the technician to help minimize service fees that might apply to mobile visits.
- Step 5: Bring a valid form of vehicle ownership documentation, such as your title or registration, as this is often required before programming can begin.
- Step 6: The technician will connect a scan tool to your vehicle’s onboard diagnostics port to access the immobilizer system and enter programming mode.
- Step 7: The new smart key remote fob will be programmed into the system. If applicable, previously paired remotes will be re-synced or replaced during the same session.
- Step 8: After programming is complete, all functions—including lock/unlock, trunk access, and push-button start—will be tested to ensure proper operation.
