2024 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 2024 BMW Z4 does not support onboard programming. Smart key remotes must be programmed using factory-grade diagnostic equipment by a certified technician or authorized dealer.
- Step 1: Determine whether you are replacing a lost remote or adding an additional one. Most BMW models require all remotes to be programmed at the same time.
- Step 2: Contact a certified technician or authorized dealer equipped with BMW-compatible diagnostic tools for key programming service.
- Step 3: Bring all functioning key fobs to the appointment. Any remote not present during the programming session may be deleted from the vehicle’s system.
- Step 4: If the vehicle is operable, consider driving it to the technician’s location instead of requesting mobile service to reduce overall costs.
- Step 5: If you have no working remotes, prepare to present proof of ownership, such as your vehicle title or registration, before programming can begin.
- Step 6: The technician will connect professional diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s onboard interface to access the keyless entry system.
- Step 7: The new remote will be electronically registered with the vehicle, enabling locking, unlocking, ignition, and other remote features.
- Step 8: After programming, the technician will test the smart key to ensure proper function, including proximity entry and push-button start.
- Step 9: Test all remote features yourself, including trunk release, panic alarm, and remote lock/unlock, to verify full functionality.
- Step 10: If multiple remotes are being programmed, ensure all are added during the same session—typically within a short window—to guarantee full synchronization.
