2024 Cadillac XT4

Programming Guide for 2024 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming of smart key remote fobs. You can program new remotes either by using two recognized fobs or by following a timed initialization procedure if no functional remotes are available. Review the appropriate method and follow each step carefully.

Programming with Two Functional Remote Fobs: Follow these steps to program a new remote when two recognized remotes are available:

  • Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is completely off and all doors are closed.
  • Step 2: Place both recognized remotes into the front cupholder.
  • Step 3: Locate the keyhole cap on the driver’s door handle and remove it to expose the mechanical lock cylinder.
  • Step 4: Take the emergency key from one of the remotes, insert it into the lock, and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. This initiates programming mode. The display will read READY FOR REMOTE #2 or a similar message.
  • Step 5: Place the new, unprogrammed remote into the front cupholder.
  • Step 6: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once (do not hold). The system will register the new remote and signal readiness to program another.
  • Step 7: Remove the new remote from the cupholder and press either the Lock or Unlock button to confirm that it has been programmed correctly.
  • Step 8: Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for each additional remote you wish to program.
  • Step 9: Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 10: Insert the emergency key back into the remote.
  • Step 11: Reinstall the keyhole cap on the driver’s door handle.

Programming Without Recognized Remotes: If no working remotes are available, follow this 30-minute process to add new ones:

  • Step 1: Verify the vehicle is off and all doors are closed.
  • Step 2: Remove the cap from the driver’s door handle to access the lock cylinder.
  • Step 3: Insert the mechanical key into the lock and turn it to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The message REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT will appear on the dashboard.
  • Step 4: Wait approximately 10 minutes until the display instructs you to press the ENGINE START/STOP button.
  • Step 5: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The screen will return to the previous message.
  • Step 6: Repeat Steps 4 and 5 two more times. After the third cycle, all previously programmed remotes will be erased, and the display will show READY FOR REMOTE #1.
  • Step 7: Place the first new remote into the front cupholder.
  • Step 8: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. The remote will be learned and accepted by the system.
  • Step 9: Remove the remote and press the Lock or Unlock button to ensure it operates correctly.
  • Step 10: Repeat Steps 7 through 9 for each additional remote you wish to program.
  • Step 11: When all desired remotes have been added, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 12: Insert the mechanical key back into the remote fob.
  • Step 13: Reattach the keyhole cap on the driver’s door handle.

Additional Considerations:

Maximum Supported Remotes: Up to eight remotes can be programmed to the same vehicle.

Timing Is Critical: Actions involving key turns and button presses must be performed within the designated time to avoid restarting the process.

Ownership Verification: If all remotes are lost and you require professional assistance, documentation proving vehicle ownership may be required.
