2025 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Encore GX

Programming with Two Recognized Remote Keys: This method allows you to program a new remote when two remote keys are already recognized by the vehicle.

  • Step 1: Confirm the vehicle is turned off and safely parked.
  • Step 2: Place the two currently recognized remote keys inside the remote key pocket (usually found in the center console or storage area).
  • Step 3: Remove the cap covering the key lock cylinder on the driver’s exterior door handle.
  • Step 4: Insert the emergency key from the new remote into the lock cylinder.
  • Step 5: Turn the key to the unlock position (counterclockwise) five times within 10 seconds.
  • Step 6: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display: “READY FOR REMOTE #2,” “#3,” “#4,” etc.
  • Step 7: Remove the two recognized remotes from the remote pocket.
  • Step 8: Place the new remote into the remote key pocket.
  • Step 9: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button one time.
  • Step 10: Wait for the DIC to confirm the new remote has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 11: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the LOCK or UNLOCK button to finalize pairing.
  • Step 12: Repeat Steps 8 through 11 for each additional remote you wish to program.
  • Step 13: After programming all remotes, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 14: Reinsert the emergency key into the remote.
  • Step 15: Reattach the key lock cylinder cap to the driver’s door handle.

Programming Without Recognized Remote Keys: Use this method if you have no currently recognized remotes. This process allows up to eight remotes to be programmed and takes about 30 minutes to complete. This method may not be available in all regions.

  • Step 1: Make sure the vehicle is off and that all new remotes are with you.
  • Step 2: Remove the key lock cylinder cap from the driver’s door handle.
  • Step 3: Insert the emergency key into the door lock cylinder and turn it to the unlock position (counterclockwise) five times within 10 seconds.
  • Step 4: The DIC will display: “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
  • Step 5: Wait approximately 10 minutes without touching any buttons or interacting with the vehicle.
  • Step 6: When prompted, press the ENGINE START/STOP button once.
  • Step 7: The message will return to “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
  • Step 8: Repeat Steps 5 through 7 two more times, completing three total 10-minute cycles.
  • Step 9: After the third cycle, the DIC will display: “READY FOR REMOTE #1.”
  • Step 10: Place the first new remote into the remote key pocket.
  • Step 11: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once.
  • Step 12: Wait for confirmation that the remote has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 13: Remove the remote from the pocket and press the LOCK or UNLOCK button.
  • Step 14: To program more remotes, repeat Steps 10 through 13 for each additional one.
  • Step 15: Once all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
  • Step 16: Reinsert the emergency key into each remote.
  • Step 17: Replace the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door.
